Charcoal and Gestures
I am fairly new to the world of charcoal as I spent the majority of my time as an artist terrified of it. However I've learned over time the dedication and sensitivity it takes to control charcoal. Gestures interest me because of their kinetic and linear quality. Quarantining as a result of COVID-19 limited my model options to myself and my partner or duplicating works of other artists (see Vermeer's Milkmaid), so many of these works are a result of limited subject material.
